Patch 1 is obsolete, please upgrade to Patch 2 (for ArcGIS 9.1) or Patch 3 (for ArcGIS 9.2).

Overview

This patch provides several significant enhancements to the MapViewer component, including the ability to use hyperlinks established within the published map files, and support for group layers. Parcel Builder Administrator has been revised to simplify the entry of condo information, and to allow data sorting in custom linked views. In addition, this patch fixes several issues identified by our users. A full list of revisions included with this patch is shown below.

Installation Instructions

Click on the following link to install Parcel Builder Patch 1. You must have Parcel Builder Release 2 installed, and you must have Administrative rights to your machine.

Parcel Builder Administrator Changes

Custom Linked Views

  • You can now sort the data by any field within a linked view. The PIN field is sorted by default if it is found.

  • The tabs for the various linked views displayed in Parcel Builder Administrator can now be reordered. The tab order can be established within Parcel Builder Configuration, and then becomes viewable in Parcel Builder Administrator.

Maintenance Tab

  • The Date textbox can now be edited. This field is connected to the DATE1 value established in the Configuration utility.

  • The Date textbox is now a text type instead of a date type, thus allowing "ORIG" or other user selected values to appear.

  • Entries in the Remarks and Notes fields can now span multiple lines. The number of characters is limited by the length established for those fields in the Master table.

  • The Force Date textbox is now read-only. This textbox is primarily used with Sidwell's FARMS product.

  • The Active Date is now populated when creating a parcel from the Create Parcel Number Update tool.

Parcel Control Grid

  • Sorting SQL Server Text / NText fields is not supported. Previously, adding these types of fields to the grid and attempted to sort by them would generate an error. The sorting option has been disabled for these data types.

  • It is now possible to add the PIN field to the grid and sort by that field. Previously sorting by that field would generate an error.

Miscellaneous

  • Launching Parcel Builder Administrator and double-clicking on the projects list table when it is empty no longer generates an error.

Parcel Builder Administrator Configuration

  • Configuration now allows the use of a UDL connection in place of a DSN connection for your projects.

  • Configuration now allows the use of a blank password for the project DSN login.

  • The tab order for the various custom linked views displayed in Parcel Builder Administrator can now be established within Configuration.

Parcel Builder Administrator Listener

  • A Condo tab has been added to the Listener screen to allow direct entry of condo information. This replaces the Condo pop-up window.

  • An Event Log tab has also been added to the Listener screen. This displays the communication between the Listener and Parcel Builder Administrator, to assist with troubleshooting.

  • Previously Listener would generate an error message if the ObjectID was selected as the PIN field, and the user attempted to locate, link, delete, or select from the map. Selecting ObjectID as PIN is now logged as an error in the Event Log tab, and the locate, link, delete, and select options will not work.

Parcel Builder MapViewer Changes

  • Support for group layers.
MapViewer now has the ability to display all layers within group layers. This applies to both feature and raster layers, and it is particularly useful for ECW files. MapViewer still does not support querying or feature selection within group layers.

  • Hyperlink tool.
MapViewer now includes a hyperlink tool, available from both the main menu and as an icon. This will allow you to use any hyperlink fields established within ArcMap when generating Published Map Files (.pmf). To use the tool in MapViewer, click on the hyperlink icon (or select Tools > Hyperlink ... from the main menu). Any visible feature with a hyperlink field established in ArcMap will be outlined in blue. Click on that feature to open a browser window at the hyperlink location.

  • Support for multiple data frames.
MapViewer now allows the user to separately save the parcel layer and join settings established within each data frame. Then when you change data frames, MapViewer will automatically use the saved settings for that frame. The settings are saved in the settings.xml file within the Parcel Builder MapViewer directory.

  • Spatial Query tool.
The "Get Unique Values" option of the Spatial Query tool now sorts field values for all fields; previously only joined fields were sorted. The performance for this tool has also been improved.

  • Joining ArcSDE data.
MapViewer has improved its ability to join data saved in an enterprise geodatabase to the map. Previously it was assumed that "dbo" was the owner of the joined table; now the owner name is dynamically retrieved from the selected table.

  • Edit map scale.
The user can now edit the map scale shown at the lower left of the MapViewer screen, and then press Carriage Return to view the map at the specified scale.

  • Moving user forms.
It is now possible to move all of the user forms to any location. Previously several forms were restricted to a single location.

Parcel Builder MapEditor Changes

  • Link PIN to Polygon Tool.
Previously gave an error message if two or more layers in the edit workspace referred to the same Point feature class.

  • Find Polygons with Multiple points.
Previously gave an error message if two or more layers in the edit workspace referred to the same Point feature class.

  • Place Monumentation tool.
Revised to clear any selected points after clicking "Cancel". Previously the selected points were still stored and active after cancel was clicked.

All Components

  • Release Number.
You can verify the installed Parcel Builder release and patch number by viewing the "About Parcel Builder." boxes in each component. Parcel Builder MapEditor / MapPlotter and Parcel Builder MapViewer will indicate Release 2 - Patch 1. In Parcel Builder Administrator, this Patch is referred to as Release 2.1.x.
