The Sidwell Company, a St. Charles, Illinois-based provider of geographic information systems, aerial photography and mapping services, presented scholarship awards to three area high school students participating in a CAD competition sponsored by the Illinois Drafting Educators Association. The competition, held March 3, 2006 at Elgin Community College, featured participation by more than 70 students from seven area high schools.
Sidwell presented a total of three $200.00 scholarships this year: the first to Jordan Krage, a senior from St. Charles North High School, who placed first in the Architectural CAD category of the competition. The second scholarship was awarded to Alexander Puckett, a senior from Larkin High School, who placed first in the Mechanical CAD category. The recipient of the final award, in the category of Solids Modeling, was Mike Blackwell, a junior from Bartlett High School. According to Sidwell’s President Neal Carpenter, “The Sidwell Company is pleased to have the opportunity to help support and promote CAD curricula in the community, both at the high school and college levels. Along with our intern program, these scholarships are important parts of that support.”
